Dare to Dream

Dance, then, wherever you may be, I am the Lord of the Dance, said he, And I'll lead you all, wherever you may be, And I'll lead you all in the dance, said he. Sydney Carter

Suppose someone asked you to do some fund-raising. You said, 'Yes, I'll help to raise funds'. You asked, 'Who is the fund-raising for?' and they said, 'It's for you'. How would that make you feel? Would you still be as enthusiastic to do the fund-raising? Now imagine going up to people and asking for money that you would be keeping for yourself. Would you do it - yes or no?

Now, imagine it was for another purpose. Let us say to help save a child's life. Let us say there was no one else in the world who could help this child, only you. Let us say you only had three months to do it, otherwise the child would die. How would you feel?

Would you accept the challenge? Would you realise that this is the greatest opportunity of your life? How creative would you be in raising funds? How much time would you devote to this? Would you complain about what life had burdened you with? Would you moan? Would you care whether it was a Monday or Friday? Would you care about the state of your car, your job, your business? Do you think in rising to this challenge you would realise a lot more of your own greatness, and experience the deepest joy? Would you do it - yes or no?

As Patanjali (about 200 BC), who is considered to be the founder of yoga and was also a great dancer, famously said: "When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds. Your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be."

An Invitation to Create a Great Purpose for your Life

Align yourself with something you feel deeply passionate about. And remember you are the source of creation. You are the dancer of your dance. Whatever path you are on, in business, in your career, in your personal life, align it to a great purpose, a great cause. The more this purpose is for the benefit of all, the more those "dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive". And when you face challenges on your journey it is your purpose which will help you conquer them!
